Bringing the voice of youth to life for The British Council

The Challenge

Our work formed part of a global series conducted in countries experiencing a period of significant change and aimed to ensure that young people’s voices are heard, and their interests represented and reflected in youth policies.  The research aimed to deliver the findings in a credible, powerful, and engaging way.

What we did

We delivered projects across four NextGen studies in Kenya, Germany, Ethiopia and Indonesia.  The scope varied but typically included a literature review, stakeholder engagement activities, a nationally-representative quantitative survey, and qualitative ethnographic methods.  In some markets we also trained young people to become peer researchers.

The Results

Our published reports and findings have been used to inform and influence policy and determine how policies are implemented within each of the target countries, acting as the ‘voice’ of young people for policy makers.
